We need your help!
Today our natural landscapes are threatened by invasive species, but using chemical treatments and indiscriminate clearing only further harms fragile ecosystems. Let’s do it right – enjoy outdoor time with friends and neighbors in helping to safely remove invasive species to restore park health.
We’ll remove English Ivy in several locations in sensitive old growth areas in Osborne Park; at the end of our session we’ll walk along the creek and visit several amazing trees!
We’ll walk approximately .5 – 1 miles on paved and natural trails and off trail on some steep slopes. Please bring work gloves and we recommend wearing long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes, as we may be working in shrubby areas.
You’ll learn about the special quality of Brookhaven Parks, including their trees, wildlife, rare species and how to identify old growth forest remnants — which might even be found in your back yard!
Train with us and receive Eco-Naturalist certification and become a Brookhaven Parks Steward and teach others!
Due to Covid-19 precautions, we are not re-using gloves, so please bring your own, or we can provide a brand new, unused pair for $5 that you can take home with you (and use next time).
We’ll supply tools such as clippers, loppers, small saws, and digging tools, but feel free to bring your own.
This is a Covid-safe event — we’ll be outdoors at all times following CDC recommended guidelines. And of course if you do not feel well, please consider joining us another time!
