Volunteer – Adams Park

March 25, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Join Eco-A and your neighbors and friends of Adams Park to in helping to restore this historic West Atlanta greenspace gem. The native forest here retains remnants of the old growth forest from days it was owned by the Muscogee Creek Nation, only about 20 decades ago.

We’ll focus on removing invasive species carefully from this high-value forest. We’ll show how to recognize old growth forest remnants and we’ll end with a short walk to a beautiful section of Proctor Creek or walk thru the high forest near the ridgeline.

Volunteers have made great progress this year on preventing the spread of Kudzu outbreaks, and we’ve made great progress on removing English Ivy from trees – let’s finish off a few of these sections!

Note: Participation in this Stewardship session counts as credit toward completion of our online Eco-Literacy course. Click here for details.

We’ll walk approximately 1/2 to – 1 mile on natural trails along with some off-trail locations. Please bring work gloves and long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes, and are recommended as we will be working in off-trail areas.

Due to Covid-19 precautions, we are not currently re-using gloves, so please bring your own gloves, or we can provide a brand new, unused pair for $5 that you can take home with you (and use next time).

We’ll supply tools such as clippers, loppers, small saws, and digging tools.

To register (RSVP) click HERE – details and directions sent to registered participants.

A donation of $15 or more helps support our programs.
