March 2 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Event Navigation
Note: If the parking area for this trail is still closed by this Saturday, we will take an equally beautiful alternative hike just a short distance upriver at the West Palisades Trail — all registered participants will be notified and sent directions to the correct location Friday afternoon – call 404-862-0118 if you have any questions. — Thanks, Eco-A
Join us for a late winter/early spring walk along the Powers Island Chattahoochee River Trail. We’ll see a high diversity of tree species, especially as we walk from the river floodplain upslope past 100-year old Beech trees to a ridge hosting a variety of oaks and significant stands of Rusty Blackhaw. We may even see a few of the earliest spring wildflowers on this south-facing slope, and early Buckeye leaves just beginning to unravel.
We’ll walk approximately 1.5 – 2 miles on natural trails with one fairly large hill, and expect a few roots and rocks. There is a parking fee of $5 per vehicle.
To register (RSVP) click HERE – Details and directions sent to registered participants.
A donation of $15 or more helps sustain our programs.
