Living with Trees – Capitol View

September 17, 2023 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Join Eco-A and co-hosts Capitol View Neighborhood AssociationCapitol View Community Garden and Friends of Perkerson Park for a neighborhood tree walk with Eco-A Director Kathryn Kolb and ISA Certified Arborist Edward Morrow.

Atlanta is known for its exceptional tree canopy and our neighborhood trees provide beauty, shade and many other benefits, but sometimes trees can become sick and fall.

Trees are experts at standing tall in all kinds of conditions in our yards and along our streets, and they don’t just fall for no reason.  Most trees will tell you years before they become hazardous that they are struggling with a health problem — if you know what key signs to look for.  On the other hand, neighbors may worry needlessly about healthy trees, or spend resources cutting trees or branches when it’s not needed, or might even cause a subsequent problem for the tree.

Our informative walk and talk helps everyone learn how to identify the critical signs a tree is either healthy or might become hazardous, and we explain the best next steps for expert help if you do suspect your tree might have a problem. We include fascinating facts on how trees work, the lifespans of our local trees (you may be surprised!), plus we’ll share tips on pruning and the best yard care practices to keep your trees in a heathy condition for many decades.

For more information and to register contact us.

Residents of Capitol View/Perkerson Park neighborhood only – Space limited to 25.

This program is made possible by Atlanta’s Tree Conservation Commission and is offered free of charge to City of Atlanta residents.
