Herbert Greene Park

December 7 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Herbert Greene Park is one of Atlanta’s less well-known parks, located just outside I-285 in the Boulder Park neighborhood. True to its location, we find large boulders that are part of the Ben Hill granite outcrops. This forest also contains a beautiful stretch of Utoy Creek, a few miles before its outfall into the the Chattahoochee River.

We’ll walk approximately 1.5-2 miles on natural surface trails along the banks of Utoy Creek, which at this point has developed the character of a small river. We’ll pass a deep bend with a sandbar, where we’ll look for animal tracks, then continue on to where deep pools are found among large boulders.
