Dearborn Park Stewardship Walk

July 12, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Dearborn Park is located on the south side of Decatur near Midway Woods, Agnes Scott, Winona Park, East Lake neighborhoods.

We invite Eco-A volunteers, neighbors and friends of Dearborn Park to participate in the continued restoration efforts of this neighborhood greenspace gem.

We’ll focus on removing invasive species, such as Japanese Chaff Flower, Wisteria and others. Master Naturalist Kathryn Kolb will show how to recognize high-value forest areas and to differentiate between native and invasive plants. We’ll also lead a short walk along an old growth remnant slope and along the floodplain and stream corridor.

We’ll walk approximately 1 mile (at most) on natural trails along with some off-trail locations. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, closed toed-shoes, and please bring your own work gloves and tools if you have them.  We’ll supply tools such as clippers, loppers, small saws, and digging tools.

Due to Covid, we are not currently re-using gloves, so please bring your own gloves, or we can provide a brand new, un-used pair for $5 that you can take home with you (and use next time too!)

We’ll wear masks at 6 feet apart, but if you are working further than 12 feet from other folks you will not be required to wear a mask.

To register, click HERE.  Details and directions will be sent to registered participants.

A donation of $15 or more helps sustain our programs.
