Bones and Trees, Sweetwater Creek State Park

October 29, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

It’s almost Halloween!

To celebrate, we’re co-hosting this special event with Adrian Fox, Interpretive Ranger at Sweetwater Creek State Park. Before becoming a naturalist and ranger at Georgia State Parks, Adrian studied forensic science. Today she shares fascinating details about a variety of animals from the bones they leave behind in natural areas. We invite you to bring any animal bones or skulls you may have found and Adrian will identify them and share information about their previous owners.

After learning about bones, we’ll go for an ecology hike in Sweetwater Creek State Park and learn how to “read” the forest landscape and how to identify trees by their bark, fruits and leaves.

We’ll walk about 3-4 miles of natural trails partly along the creek with some hills.
