Join us for a Naturalist Walk in John’s Homestead Park, located just northeast of Decatur, GA.

We’ll walk approximately 1.5 – 2 miles through native forest and along the lake. This park has recently undergone a renovation of the dam at the southeastern part of the park, which has just been re-opened to the public. We’ll experience a landscape returning to forest from earlier 19th and 20th century farming. The Johns Homestead property was originally one of the earliest farms established in Dekalb County, and the history of this property illustrates how landscapes changed in metro Atlanta from the 1830s to the present.
