Join us for a naturalist walk along the paved path from Atlanta’s South Bend Park to the Swann Preserve bridge where it crosses the South River. We’ll see many species of trees and different forest types from creek to ridge and river. This pocket of forest, located in South Atlanta neighborhoods, holds surprisingly intact woodlands, hill-top views and is an important part of Atlanta’s South River corridor. The South River begins in southeast Atlanta, and flows through South Bend Park and Swann Preserve before heading on to South DeKalb and later helping form Georgia’s Ocmulgee and Altamaha Rivers which eventually lead to the Atlantic coast near Sapelo Island.
