Cochran Mill Nature Center Trails – 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Join us for a late fall walk through the woods and along the creek near the Cochran Mill Nature Center in south Fulton County, about 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta. This less well-known gem of a natural area is located just where the ends of suburbia dissolve into the rural countryside. In addition to educational wildlife exhibits, The Nature Center, (adjacent to Cochran Mill Park), hosts a network of trails in a 50-acre tract. The trail we’ll take runs along a large creek that has both meandering pools and rocky waterfalls, and in a few miles becomes tributary to the Chattahoochee River. Late fall color will still be enjoyable, with the deep reds of white oak and sparkleberry set against the warm-gray palette of the late fall woods. Our walk will be approx. 2 miles with flat terrain along the creek and one moderate hill loop, illustrating a rich and diverse Piedmont forest.
