This walk is full – we look forward to seeing you on another walk very soon!
Join us for a short hike in an old growth forest remnant in Sandy Springs. The steep slope likely protected this special forest from development, so today we find approximately 200-year old Chestnut Oaks, Scarlet Oak, Sourwood, Mountain Laurel and and host of other native species remaining from the original pre-european settlement landscape of our area. We should still see good fall color from a variety of tree species from floodplain to ridgetop.
Our walk is fairly short (about 1/2 to 1 mile) on natural trails. Overall, the trail is easy walking, with one narrow stretch on the steep hillside.
