SUMMARY:Winter Tree ID Walk\, Chattahoochee NRA
DESCRIPTION:Every season is beautiful in our native woodlands\, and the winter season gives us the opportunity to focus on tree bark and other clues to identifying trees without their green foliage.\nEco-A’s Kathryn Kolb leads us on a forest tour from the Aker’s Mill trail head in the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area from ridge top to floodplain to help us identify many of the tree species found in this special area that hosts an unusually rich diversity of trees.\nThis walk is offered in partnership with the Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy\, to register\, click HERE\n \nTree bark from various tree species looks quite different once you practice seeing patterns: White Ash (left)\, Chestnut Oak (center)\, and Mockernut Hickory (right). Dogwood buds (above) create a distinctive silhouette. Photos © Kathryn Kolb 2019. \n
