SUMMARY:Stewardship Walk Cascade Springs
DESCRIPTION: \nEco-A partners with Friends of Cascade Springs Nature Preserve\, Adams Park Foundation\, and West Atlanta Watershed Alliance for a Stewardship Series of educational walks and volunteer sessions. Our walk features “reading” the forest\, seeing the forest’s story through succession and growth patterns\, and we’ll cover tree identification\, as well as native and invasive plant identification\, including some species that indicate original forest remnants.  \nWe’ll walk a broad loop trail overview that illustrates special old growth trees\, original forest remnants\, and more recently regenerating woodlands\, and we’ll show how to look for clues about each forest’s type. We’ll likely see some early “spring ephemeral” wildflowers\, and we’ll explain how these sensitive species are indicators of the old growth forest legacy of this special greenspace.\nPlan for walking about 2 miles on natural trails with some hills as well as flatter floodplain area.\nLimit 10 – $10 per attendee\nTo register (RSVP) click HERE  – Details and directions sent to registered participants. \nDonations of $15 or more help support our programs.\n
