SUMMARY:Grove Park Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:Join Eco-A for a volunteer session to continue the efforts to keep Grove Park healthy and restore its native biodiversity. Work alongside neighbors and friends to help heal this special old growth forest remnant in Bankhead. Master Naturalist Kathryn Kolb will lead a brief training session on how to identify high value native species as well as how to identify and safely remove invasive plant species that threaten the integrity of the forest. \nThe volunteer session will focus primarily on the removal of the aggressive and invasive English Ivy. English Ivy grows along the ground as well as into the forest canopy\, blocking critical sunlight plants in our native ecosystem depend on. These skills can be applied to any forest or woodland area in our region – maybe even your backyard. Water\, long sleeves\, long pants\, closed toe shoes\, and work gloves are recommended. \nTo register (RSVP) click HERE – details and directions sent to registered participants. \nA donation of $15 or more helps support or programs.\n
