SUMMARY:Spring Wildflowers & Photography Walk at Cascade Springs
DESCRIPTION:Due to rain on the original date of April 25\, we’ve rescheduled this walk for the morning of May 23 — priority given to those previously registered.\nNaturalist/Photography Walk\nCascade Springs Nature Preserve is one of Atlanta’s less well-known park gems\, located just off Cascade Road just inside the southwest perimeter. Though the mature forest has been impacted by invasive species in some areas\, many places within this large 120-acre preserve still host a wide variety plants and wildflowers native to the moist woodlands of the Georgia Piedmont. From stream-side Sycamores and Yellow Root\, to Solomon’s Plume and hilltop Hickories\, there is much to experience in these rich woods. Neo-tropical migrant songbirds should just be reaching this forest from their winter homes in Central America\, so as we walk we’ll listen for calls for those claiming forest nesting sites\, such as the Acadian Flycatcher and brilliant red/orange Summer Tanager — bring your binoculars. We’ll focus on photography too for this walk – Cascade Springs is a great location for nature photography. Bring your camera or we’ll provide one for you.
