SUMMARY:Spink-Collins Park\, Naturalist Walk
DESCRIPTION: Spink-Collins Park is located at about “10 o’clock\,” in Atlanta’s northwest neighborhoods off Bolton Road near the Chattahoochee River. A meandering stream and floodplain roughly parallels slopes with older forest\, including sections that host the classic spring ephemeral wildflowers of our highest value forests. A network of private and public lands including a power easement and links to the Chattahoochee corridor make this area a haven for wildlife from deer and coyote to migratory songbirds to birds of prey. In late April we should see or hear many of our native migratory songbirds\, either returning from the tropics to nest in our area\, or just passing through\, on the way to the high Blue Ridge or to the northern states and Canada.\nWe’ll walk about 1.5-2.0 miles along natural trails — see if you can spot the species that indicate parts of an original forest remnant. Though invasive species threaten some sections of this park\, a dedicated corps of neighborhood volunteers is working to remove invasives\, and has cleared many areas. They’ll share their story on our walk as well.\nAfter our walk we recommend lunch at a favorite local farm-to-table joint.\nTo register (RSVP) click HERE  – Details and directions sent to registered participants. \nA donation of $15 or more helps support our programs.\n \n  \n
