SUMMARY:Living With Trees at Pea Ridge Park
DESCRIPTION: \nJoin our host and sponsor\, Friends of Pea Ridge Park\, on this insightful and informative walk where we’ll share in-depth information about the trees in your yard or park\, and how to care for them. \nEveryone can learn the key signs that show whether a tree is healthy or might become hazardous\, and know when to call an arborist\, and why an ISA certified Arborist is important.\nMost trees will tell us they have health problems years before they fail — if we know what clues to look for. Master Naturalist Kathryn Kolb and ISA certified Arborist Edward Morrow (think Tree Doctor) lead an engaging program in how to identify easy-to-learn clues that a tree might become hazardous before it can create damage. Plus they’ll share many fascinating facts about trees generally\, as well as tips on how to keep yard trees in their best health. \nOur goal is to help prevent hazardous trees from causing damage\, and alleviate unnecessary worry about healthy trees\, which can save homeowners the cost of unnecessary tree work or removal. Everyone should know tree health basics\, and know when it’s time to call an Arborist for professional help. Pruning dead branches or knowing when to remove remove a potentially hazardous tree can save much cost and heartache. \nDid you know?\n\n\nmosses and lichens do not harm trees\n\n\na tree leaning on purpose\, toward light\, may not be a fall risk\n\n\ntrees without invasive vines are able to move freely in strong winds and are less likely to fall\n\n\ncommon trees in our yards may live to be 500-700 years old\n\n\nTrees are critical to our living environment\, providing health\, beauty and character to our neighborhoods and keeping our planet healthy. Living With Trees walks are offered in metro Atlanta as well as neighborhoods and communities throughout Georgia. \nFor more information\, call Cathy Shirah\, Friends of Pea Ridge Park 404-452-4912\, or Kathryn Kolb\, 404-862-0118\nClick HERE register  •  Cost: $15  \n  \n
