SUMMARY:Interfaith Naturalist Walk - Soapstone Ridge
DESCRIPTION:Soapstone Ridge\, DeKalb County\nJoin us for a naturalist walk followed by an interfaith discussion at an historic forest in DeKalb County’s Soapstone Ridge area. This outing is co-hosted by Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta (FAMA).\nEco-A leads the naturalist part of our walk\, which will include tree identification by examining fall leaves\, bark and tree forms.  We’ll also learn some of the deep history of this special corner of DeKalb\, Fulton and Clayton Counties\, where Native Americans came many centuries ago to work the soft stone found in the rock formations of these hills.\n\nAll Americans are forever be indebted to Native Americans for the land we live on as well as innovative philosophies they introduced on how to live in successful communities–adopted into our own Constitution.  Now more than ever\, those principles of how to live in harmony with the landscape that inevitably supports every part of our lives are worth remembering.\n\nUnitarian Universalist Minister\, and FAMA board member emeritus\, Reverend Marti Keller\, leads our discussion focusing on thankfulness.\nYou are invited to bring and share readings\, personal writings\, stories or other inspirational thoughts with the group. We invite members of all religious traditions to enlighten us to the myriad perspectives about the natural world and our relationship to it — and to each other.\nYou’re in for an enjoyable and enlightening experience.  Please bring your camera!  We’ll walk approximately 1.5 miles at a slow\, easy pace with some hills.\nTo register (RSVP) click HERE\n\nDetails and directions will be sent to registered participants.\nA donation of $15 or more helps sustain our high quality programs.\nabove photo © Kathryn Kolb\n
