SUMMARY:Herbert Greene Park\, Naturalist Walk
DESCRIPTION:\nnew date!\nHerbert Greene Park is one of Atlanta’s less well-known parks\, but it is one of our favorites because it hosts bio-diverse native forest and contains a beautiful stretch of Utoy Creek\, after the north and south forks of Utoy have united\, and only a few miles before joining the Chattahoochee River. Herbert Greene is located in Boulder Park just outside I-285\, and like the surrounding neighborhood\, ancient boulders are found here as well. \nHerbert Greene Park is one of Atlanta’s parks included in the Old Growth Forest Network\, we’ll talk about the high quality forest and the species we find in the park. \nA rustic nature trail takes us along the banks of Utoy Creek\, which at this point has really come to develop the characteristics of a river. We’ll pass a deep bend with a sandbar\, where we’ll look for animal tracks\, then continue on to where deep pools are found near outcrops of large boulders.  \n\nWe’ll walk approximately 1.5-2 miles at a slow\, easy pace on mostly flat terrain\, and we’ll stop from time to time to discuss what we find and take photos.\nFor more information and to register click HERE  –  Details and directions sent to registered participants. A donation of $15 or more helps support our programs. \n \n \n
