SUMMARY:Hahn Woods
DESCRIPTION:this walk is full\, now taking wait list \nThis small but beautiful little tract is tucked away off Houston Mill road near the Emory University Campus. Protected at the request of Emory Trustee T\, Marshall Hahn\, Jr.\, this forest hosts fairly young woods as well as notable older growth forest remnants with a high diversity of trees\, from ridge-top oaks to the American Elm and Cottonwood along the banks of the South Fork of Peachtree Creek which runs along the north edge of the park. There are also two types of native deciduous magnolias — a great place to learn to identify these visually elegant species. \nIn the quiet corner of the creek you’ll find ducks living their private lives and water turtles finding a spot in the sun\, and this time of year you can hear many of our migratory songbirds that will either nest here or use this natural corridor as a way-station en route to the nesting grounds in the mountains or another US and Canada. \nThe creek side trail continues on to Lullwater Park\, and we’ll walk along this for a little way at the end of our if we have time. \nTo RSVP click HERE  –  Details & Directions sent to Registered Participants.\n  \n \nUmbrella Magnolia (Magnolia tripetala) – a Georgia native \nphoto: K Kolb \n  \n
