SUMMARY:Grove Park Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:Eco-A invites you to join us in a volunteer learn/work Stewardship session removing invasive species from an original old-growth forest remnant at Grove Park and Proctor Creek greenspaces. Master Naturalist Kathryn Kolb will lead a brief training session on how to “read” the history\, health\, and value of the forest by recognizing the trees\, plants\, and wildlife found in the park’s different forest types.\nWe will discuss the ongoing restoration plans for Grove Park and talk about the next steps in preserving this very special and unusual urban forest. There will be short training on how to identify and remove invasive species as we walk along the creek trail looking for signs of autumn olive\, kudzu upstarts\, and Japanese Chaff Flower. \nJapanese Chaff Flower is one of the worst invasive species we’ve ever seen and it’s being spread primarily by people walking dogs- for more about Japanese Chaff Flower see https://www.ecoaddendum.org/japanese-chaff-flower-a-silent-crisis-lurking-on-georgia-trails/\nWater\, long sleeves\, long pants\, closed toe shoes\, and work gloves are recommended. \nTo register (RSVP) click HERE – details and directions sent to registered participants. \nA donation of $15 or more helps support or programs.\n\n
