SUMMARY:Frazer Forest Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:\nNote: Because our Stewardship walk at Frazer Forest takes place at the same time as the Frazer Center’s annual Fall Festival\, our walk is rescheduled for 3:00 pm as part of Fall Festival activities\, which you’re welcome to attend! We’ll still have a short volunteer work session after the walk – for about 1 hr. \nJoin Master Naturalist Kathryn Kolb for an informative and interactive Frazer Forest walk and Stewardship session. This time of year when the leaves begin to change color is the optimal time to hone our tree identification skills. Kathryn will share tips on how to identify leaves\, as well and bark and other characteristics of a wide variety of native tree species. Come learn and work alongside neighbors and friends as we celebrate and care for this special\, old growth forest remnant.\nBe prepared to do some invasive removal as we practice identifying high value “indicator species” alongside commonly confused invasives. We will work on removing invasive English Ivy and Monkey Grass in select areas. These skills can be applied to any forest or woodland area in our region – maybe even your backyard. Water\, long sleeves\, long pants\, closed toe shoes\, and work gloves are recommended. \nYou’ll also learn more about Frazer’s ongoing program to help care for this special remnant of the old-growth forest which was originally connected to the Fernbank and Deepdene tracts\, and how to become a Frazer Forest Steward.\n \n\nSIGN UP HERE\, with Frazer Center\n\nOr register (RSVP) click HERE – details and directions sent to registered participants. A donation of $15 or more helps support or programs.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
