SUMMARY:Dearborn Park and Midway Woods Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a naturalist walk at Dearborn Park\, located just off Candler Road at the edge of Decatur’s Winnona Park neighborhood. This greenspace hosts the confluence of creeks coming from Agnes Scott campus and the Wylde Center with Shoal Creek\, which runs through the Midway Woods neighborhood and on to join the South River\, part of the Ocmulgee/Altamaha River River system — unlike Decatur’s western streams which flow to the Chattahoochee. Dearborn Park hosts trails that access Shoal Creek and there are areas with original forest remnants. This park\, though small\, is a haven for wildlife and we’ll find quite a number of trees species here.\nAfter our park walk\, Midway Woods resident Martha Miller invites us to her home for refreshments on the deck\, and to tour her yard which she is restoring to native forest.
