SUMMARY:Songbirds\, Water and Wildflowers in Dawson Forest
DESCRIPTION:The Dawson Forest is a little known greenspace treasure owned by the City of Atlanta just one hour north near Dawsonville. This nearly 10\,000 acre tract has an odd history\, and today serves as a valuable forest reserve. A wide array of migratory songbirds nest here or pass through en route to the northern US and Canada\, so we may get a chance to see and hear some of these colorful migrants.\nWe’ll also walk to a beautiful creek that joins the Etowah River. There is an unusually rich array of native wildflowers located along the path as well. \nWe’ll have a snack or a picnic lunch at the creek\, and it has become a tradition — optional of course — for our group to stop by a superb Mexican cafe and supermercado in Cumming on the way home. \nTo register\, click HERE.  Details and directions will be sent to registered participants. \nA donation of $15 or more helps sustain our programs.\n\nPhoto: Eco-A at the Dawson Forest\, 2014 \n
