SUMMARY:Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve\, Stewardship Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us along with friends and neighbors of Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve\, located on the northeast side of Decatur\, Ga. \n \nNote: Participation in this Stewardship session counts as credit toward completion of our new online Eco-Literacy course.\nWe’ll focus on removing the highly invasive species\, Japanese Chaff Flower. (For more information Japanese Chaff Flower see our blog entry). At the end of our work session\, we’ll go for an informative Naturalist Walk around the lake trail with Kathryn Kolb\, who will show further how to recognize high-value forest areas\, different ecosystems\, and read the story of the forest\, through its trees. We’ll also learn to differentiate between native and invasive plants. \nWe’ll walk approximately 1.5 miles on natural trails. Please wear closed toed-shoes\, and please bring your own work gloves  if you have them. Due due Covid-19 precautions\, we are not currently re-using loves\, so please bring your own gloves\, or we can provide a brand new\, un-used pair for $5 that you can take home with you.\nWe’ll supply tools such as clippers\, loppers\, small saws\, and small shovels and digging tools\, but please bring your own if you prefer.\nWe’ll wear masks at 6 feet apart\, but if you are working 15 feet or more from other folks you will not be required to fully wear your mask.  \nTo register\, click HERE.  Details and directions will be sent to registered participants.\nA donation of $15 or more helps sustain our programs.\nThis elder Beech tree (above) is located in a small remnant of older forest at Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve.
