SUMMARY:Cascade Springs\, Japanese Chaff Flower Pull
DESCRIPTION:\nWe’re partnering with Waste for Use and Cascade Springs Nature Conservancy for a special volunteer day\, Sat\, Sept 24\, specifically to combat Japanese Chaff Flower and which\, without our work\, will damage many acres of this beautiful park!\nJapanese Chaff Flower (JCF) is one of the most invasive plants we’ve ever seen. It spreads exponentially\, mostly finding it’s way into our parks and yards by folks walking dogs. The seeds catch very easily on dog’s fur — or even our socks and clothing — and are then carried from park to park. In the last 3-4 years\, JCF has begun to invade Cascade Springs\, and if not removed\, will threaten the native biodiversity of the entire park. \nWe invite you to join our spirited battalion of nature enthusiasts to help ensure this pesky plant does not overtake our beloved park. We’ll include lots of great information about our native urban forest\, so you’ll also have the opportunity to become acquainted with the beautiful Cascade Springs Nature Preserve and learn about its fascinating trees and landscape while helping to restore this Atlanta greenspace gem.\nFor more on invasive Japanese Chaff Flower\, see our informative brochure here. \n\nWe’ll walk approximately 1/2 to 1 miles to our work areas\, which are forested and located near the banks of Utoy Creek.
