SUMMARY:10-year Anniversary Walk with Jessica Muhammad at Stone Mtn Park
DESCRIPTION:\nRescheduled to Oct 15\nWe can’t believe it’s been 10 years since Kathryn and Jessica had a hand shake over lunch and began to lead naturalist walks for everyone in parks\, greenspaces and great natural areas in metro Atlanta and beyond!\nAfter helping lead Eco-A in the early years of our Walks and Outings program\, Co-Director Emeritus Jessica Muhammad has focused on helping raise yet another generation of bright minds and passionate hearts within her growing family circles. We are honored to have her back for this special walk along the nature trails at Stone Mountain Park\, which in addition to being a sacred place for Native Americans for millenia\, also serves\, in at least some areas\, as a surprisingly complex bio-reserve of native species.\nWe’ll walk about 2 miles along natural trails “off the beaten path\,” stopping to see points of interest along the way and maybe tell a story or two. This particular trail is quite special as it contains several ecosystem types all in a fairly small area. We’ll see many uncommon species at home in various habitat remnants of the original forest known to Native Americans for so long. The trail is mostly easy but with roots and rocky spots and a few moderate hills – you might bring a walking stick if you have one.\nAfter our walk\, those who wish can join us for lunch and visit with Jessica at the long-established Stone Mountain eatery\, The Village Corner German Restaurant & Bakery\, owned by Hilde Friese — who btw is an Eco-A walker!\nThe daily pass for vehicles in Stone Mountain Park is $20\, and an annual pass is $40 — so for those who wish we’ll carpool to share/reduce costs from a parking area close to the park.\nTo register (RSVP) click HERE \nDetails and directions sent to registered participants (limit 15)\nA donation of $20 or more helps sustain our programs.\n \nAt left: Kathryn Kolb and Jessica Muhammad as they began Eco-A Walks and Outings programs in 2013.  \n
