One of Atlanta’s less traveled parks is found in Atlanta’s southeastern quadrant just inside the Perimeter on Jonesboro Road. This entire area still hosts woodlands that just a few decades ago would have been considered “out in the country,” not part of an urban zone. Intact native woodlands remain here and we’ll explore these along a short trails network within the park.
Mature and maturing hardwoods with a healthy complement of understory natives frequented by deer and other wildlife are signature features of the natural area of the Park, which also hosts athletic fields.
We’ll walk about 1-1.5 miles on natural trails with some gentle inclines in some places.
