Little Nancy Creek Park
February 28, 2015 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 pm
Event Navigation
Saturday, Feb 28
Located in North Buckhead, just off Peachtree Dunwoody Road, this relatively new park was purchased by City of Atlanta in 2007 with help from the Conservation Fund. Little Nancy Creek traverses this approximately 5 acre mostly forested area, originally slated for development. An active neighborhood group, Friends of Nancy Creek Park, oversees a community garden and other park amenities. We’ll walk through the forest and visit the creek, looking for the signs of early spring. We’ll also include tips for winter tree ID (bark and twigs) as we walk. The park is currently being restored for native forest, and hosts a good opportunity to discuss native and invasive species, and Piedmont forest dynamics. This will be a very easy, short walk, approx 1/4 mile loop trail on flat terrain.
