Eco-A partners with Friends of Lionel Hampton-Beecher Hills Nature Preserve for a Stewardship Series of educational walks and volunteer sessions.
Our walk features mature forest species, how to recognize them, why they’re important, and how to recognize invasive species. We’ll have a chance to remove certain invasives from a high-value forest area. We’ll also revisit tree, native and invasive plant identification, and we’ll likely hear or see some of our resident summer songbirds, who often return to our forest from Central and South America, sometimes the same bird will nest in the same tree each year having flown many thousands of miles in between.
Plan for about a 1.5-2 mile walk on narrow natural trails, with a few moderate hills.
