August 6, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Lionel Hampton Beecher Hills Park and Nature Preserve
Eco-A partners with the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance on a two-part naturalist walk for health. Geared for seniors, we’ll start with an easy walk on paved trails, then for those more adventurous, we’ll walk further on natural trails observing various species of native plants and trees as well as stopping to view beautiful sections of Utoy Creek where large rocks create riffles and small waterfalls.
We always discover something interesting in this greenspace, one of Atlanta’s largest, that offers both higher oak-hickory ridges as well as a flat, rich floodplain. We may see Red-headed woodpeckers in one section of forest transitioning from pines to hardwoods, or Kingfishers patrolling the creek, where fish can be seen nesting during calm, clear water days. We’ll also take a health-conscious moment to take a few deep breaths and learn how the forest can encourage good health in unexpected ways.
