Grove Park – Nature Photography Walk

September 10, 2014 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Sept 10 – Grove Park

Nature Photography Walk

Time: 9:30 – 11:30AM

Location: Grove Park, Atlanta, GA

Grove Park, located at the western edge of Atlanta’s new Beltline was named after the same Dr. Edwin Wiley Grove as the well known Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. But it could just as well be called “Grove Park” for it’s groves of maturing native trees.

One of west Atlanta’s larger parks, Grove Park hosts a significant stretch of Proctor Creek and its tributaries. We’ll enjoy seeing several very large trees with remnants of true native forest that still retain unusual wildflowers and native plants, including Paw Paw, Solomon’s Seal, Blue Wild Lettuce and Pipevine. As it exits the park, Proctor creek makes a sharp bend with a large sandbar usually found on larger rivers.  This almost hidden gem greatly enhances this historic neighborhood.

Our walk will be slow and easy, and includes pointers for taking great nature photographs. If you don’t have a camera we’ll provide one for you, and your photos will help tell the story about the great Nature we have here in our City of Atlanta parks and greenspaces.

This walk is offered in partnership with Park Pride, and made possible in part by the City of Atlanta.

There is no fee to attend but please RSVP!
