Frazer Forest Naturalist & Photography Walk

March 12, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Frazer Forest

Sat March 12, 10:00 AM – noon

Frazer Forest is located on the grounds of the Frazer Center for children and adults with developmental disabilities. The Frazer Center was originally the estate of Cater Woolford, who with his brother founded the company that would become Equifax. The forested parts of the property likely date back to the original old growth forest that covered this region of Georgia until the 1820’s when the Muscogee Creek tribes surrendered their land to the new State of Georgia through several treaties. This Forest contains several very old trees, including an impressive double-trunked Tulip poplar that would be at home in North Carolina’s Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. Uncommon wildflowers, and a high diversity of tree species are all signs that part of our original forest heritage still exists here. On our walk we’ll take time to notice the details that make up the character of this special forest.

We’ll walk slowly, approximately 1/2 – 1 mile on natural trails.
