James Tyler, with Friends of Lionel Hampton–Beecher Hills Nature Preserve, and Eco-A’s Kathryn Kolb, continue leading our Stewardship series. Join us for an informative walk focusing on niche habitats and how to identify the differences in the diverse forest ecosystems found in Hampton-Beecher.
We’ll walk natural trails looking to spot and pull the highly invasive Japanese Chaff Flower, which begins to set seed by late summer. This is one of the worst invasive species we’ve ever seen and it’s being spread primarily by people walking dogs – for more about Japanese Chaff Flower see https://www.ecoaddendum.org/japanese-chaff-flower-a-silent-crisis-lurking-on-georgia-trails/
Water, long sleeves, long pants, closed-toed shoes, and work gloves are recommended.
