Your gift recipient could use this as a nightlight or as illuminated artwork to brighten up a drab corner. We will complete this project by creating a unique gift box to make your naturally inspired illumination ready to give.

This class will cover basic concepts of garden design while you learn how to utilize native plants that play a critical role in the life cycles of our indigenous wildlife.
Bring a general layout of your yard to class highlighting locations of boundaries, existing plants, existing trees and locations of tree canopies, and walkway locations. During this class, you will learn about how to utilize native plants that play a critical role in the life cycles of our indigenous wildlife. We will discuss how to assess your current garden habitat and add features that will be both visually appealing and ecologically functional. We will also look at low impact methods of managing your landscape that will sustain the habitat you have created. Winding down the leaf-covered dirt road, the sign for the Pettit Preserve appeared and we entered the 70 acre wonderland established as an outdoor teaching and research laboratory for educational and scientific value, as well as a safe haven for endangered species. The Pettit Preserve is located at the end of Vineyard Way in Cartersville, GA. www.pettitpreserve.org
With our planting complete, Lori led us on a short hike through the grounds, over the swinging bridge, and past many Georgia native trees and shrubs. It was an outstanding day of planting native vegetation and a wonderful opportunity to experience one of Georgia’s hidden jewels. Only 25 miles outside the perimeter, the Pettit Preserve offers all Atlantans a chance to experience a beautiful nearby forest and lake ecosystem.
